7 Tips for Increasing Your Social Media Traffic

Do you know what they say about people being entertained vs. informed? Well, in this article we will explore how to get your audience engaged!  Whether it’s through creatives that spark conversation or simply providing valuable insight into the latest news trends on social media platforms like Facebook Live Video etc., there are many ways you can keep those satisfied customers coming back for more by making their experience fun (and informative).

1.  Don’t Be Afraid to Add some Personality

Social media is an excellent platform for promoting your business or blog, but what you say shouldn’t just stay within the confines of your statistics dashboard. Social media allows for personal connections between users and gives businesses a chance to show their more human side.

Remember that people are on social networks to have conversations…not just stare at statuses. Conversations happen when two or more people talk back and forth with one another, not when one person posts something and waits for others to keep the conversation going, so make sure you participate in the conversations happening around your network (and don’t forget about hashtags).

2.  Give Readers Useful

One of the best ways to get people to interact with your social media posts is to provide them with content they’ll find valuable. For example, if you’re a fashion blogger, posting pretty pictures of clothes isn’t going to do you much good unless you’ve got an article describing how to dress for your shape and/or budget. If you own a dog walking company, don’t be afraid to share some useful tips and tricks that can help other pet owners take care of their pets. Share advice and information that’s pertinent to the audience at hand, and watch as readers flock to your site for more info.

3.  Post Relevant Images

Using relevant images along with status updates keeps readers engaged by offering visual stimulation in addition to written words. While an attractive image won’t always be necessary for your updates, posting at least one image every few days is a good way to keep people interested in what you have to say.

4.  Unplug from Time to Time

Don’t spend all of your time glued to the computer screen updating social media networks… it’s important that you take some time away from the Internet, especially if you find yourself spending too much time online. It’s easy to get swept up in promoting your business or blog, but give yourself breaks when they’re needed and make sure you enjoy life outside of social media.

5.  Try using Free Giveaway Contests

Giveaways are excellent ways of increasing visibility on social media networks because they not only promote your products, but also encourage people to share your status updates via retweets, likes, and pins. The more people that see your posts, the more shares you get…so give away something useful or valuable in exchange for social media promotion.

6.  Don’t Overdo Promotions

Not everyone will be excited about every single social media update you make, especially if it’s promoting a product or service. If you post too many sales pitches on Facebook or Twitter, for example, you’ll quickly lose followers as they’ll start to ignore future updates (unless those updates pertain to them as well). Make sure each update lives up to the platform’s character limitations; instead of writing an entire paragraph describing why somebody should visit your site, try linking to an article that contains all the information they need.

7.  Make Use of Hashtags

Hashtags are excellent ways of connecting with other users on social media, so don’t be afraid to make them a part of your updates. If you’re talking about dogs, for example, #dog would be the appropriate hashtag; it’ll help people find your status updates who are searching for similar topics (or images).

Hashtags aren’t the only way to ensure you stand out as a brand on social media. GIFs can help as well.  On sites like Facebook and Twitter, share videos to boost your social media presence.  These platforms are usually flooded with text posts, so by injecting a little bit of GIF Animation into the mix, you’ll have an easier time standing out from the crowd.

These seven social media strategies will help you increase the number of followers. If you are consistent in your efforts, you will ultimately see results.
