{"id":19576,"date":"2020-05-17T00:51:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-17T07:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/?p=19576"},"modified":"2021-07-22T22:45:32","modified_gmt":"2021-07-23T05:45:32","slug":"live-life-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/live-life-today\/","title":{"rendered":"Live Life Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Today is the day to break out the best dinner plates, glasses, and that toy you have in a box. Take out the items you were saving for a special day. That day is today. Or at least now that we have the COVID19 pandemic. I&#8217;ve been cleaning up around the house since the start of shelter-in-place. Mainly to create a work-from-home environment and now my work from home environment is 100 times better than my work environment. I built in little quirks to help me feel like I&#8217;m in the office. For example, I put my printer roughly the same number of steps away from my chair as it is in the office. I think I did it to get a little exercise in my day&#8230;just like the office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While cleaning and setting up my space, I started to organize all the little things that I purchased with hopes to use one of these days. I have many toys in boxes; Transformers, Pop figures, and legos. A few other collectibles too. There are a set of knives I only use during Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have many other &#8220;special occasion&#8221; items hidden from the world to open at some point in my life.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Thanks to COVID19, I have decided to start using all these cool gadgets, tools, toys, and whatever else I have locked up. Using your best items will help turn a dark pandemic day bright. To highlight, I decided to start using one of my Japanese kitchen knives for my daily tasks. This knife is sharp and makes me wonder why I have been working too hard in the past. A little more on this&#8230;I switched to all my expensive knives for daily use. Yes, it requires more maintenance but it&#8217;s worth it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I&#8217;m lighting candles from the post-Christmas sales. Yes, it smells like November in the house and it&#8217;s wonderful. The smell brightens the day. I&#8217;ve seen the news stories of people setting up Christmas lights and blow-up animals in yards. Why? Why not? It puts a smile on faces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">For some of us, today marks the end of week 9 of shelter-in-place and we&#8217;re moving to week 10. Now seems like a good time to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Use the special plates, cutlery, platters to have fancy dinners at home.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Light the candles that you were saving.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Open up all that soap you were just using for display.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Play with the unopened boxes of toys. Maybe even wrap them like presents and open them.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Take out the art supplies and express yourself.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Yes, there are other things you can do&#8230;home projects and repairs. If you do them, why not reward yourself and use those bath salts you were saving?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How has life changed for you?
