Well, maybe more about what to really do before doing a project on staining.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Take off the old finish.<\/li>\n
  2. Figure out if you’re dealing with real wood or veneer.<\/li>\n
  3. Hopefully, you figured out if you’re dealing with veneer before sanding too far down past the veneer into particleboard.<\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0Sand it down with 80, 120, then 220.<\/li>\n
  5. Wipe it down with a wet cloth to remove the sawdust.<\/li>\n
  6. Stain liberally.<\/li>\n
  7. Read the directions, if it said to wipe the excess off after 5-15 minutes, do it.<\/li>\n
  8. Let it dry.<\/li>\n
  9. Apply the topcoat seal polyurethane stuff.<\/li>\n
  10. Let it dry for 24 hours.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
