And for some people, that\u2019s a big responsibility to have to shoulder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">But one area in which you should always be taking control is your home\u2019s security. We want to live healthy and happy with our loved ones, inside the four walls we forked out lots of money for, and that means we need to know what\u2019s going on outside. And to do that, you\u2019re going to have to invest in security measures.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Change Your Passwords, Regularly<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">If you\u2019re someone who uses SMART home technology to keep your house safe, you\u2019re going to want to change the password on each and every device on a regular basis. This is to keep a hacker from getting in at any point in the system, because any of your SMART devices can be vulnerable if left alone for a long time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Always check in to see how your devices are operating, and try to change their passwords at least once a month. Keep a password diary or use\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pcmag.com\/picks\/the-best-password-managers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a password manager<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, and ultimately, make sure the Internet of Things (IoT) doesn\u2019t let you down!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Set Up CCTV<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Every home out there has the ability to use their own CCTV cameras; they can be easily installed and easily hooked up to a player that can be plugged into your own TV or computer. And when you\u2019ve got CCTV on the premises, you\u2019re going to feel a lot safer about heading to bed at night, or leaving the house alone for weeks when you\u2019re off on vacation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So, why not look into\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/roselectricllc.com\/electrical-contracting-services\/fire-security-access-control\/video-surveillance-cameras-cctv-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">CCTV installation<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in your area right now? You\u2019ll have eyes and ears around your whole property, which can definitely give you peace of mind, and most cameras are subtle enough that any potential intruders won\u2019t even be able to see them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Protect Your Hub<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Finally, if you control all of your devices from your phone or your laptop, you\u2019re going to have to put extra layers of protection onto it. Make sure you have antivirus and antimalware programs on either tech, and run regular scans to check for hostile intrusions or programs you may have downloaded without knowing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">One of the best things to do is set up a different user on your laptop, and ensure they\u2019re not an \u2018administrator\u2019, and install all device programs\/software on this account. This way, if a hacker gets in, they won\u2019t be able to make any substantial changes. Once again, make sure the password is changed regularly, and that only you know it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Keeping your home safe and secure is a matter of control, and you could have that in spades.
