{"id":218,"date":"2009-05-19T23:32:16","date_gmt":"2009-05-20T06:32:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/?p=218"},"modified":"2024-10-05T15:36:36","modified_gmt":"2024-10-05T22:36:36","slug":"whats-in-my-pocket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/whats-in-my-pocket\/","title":{"rendered":"What&#8217;s in My Pocket?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MacGyver and always wished for a Swiss Army knife.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure that a one of these knives was purchased from my first paycheck.\u00a0 In fact, I&#8217;m pretty sure it was the Swiss Champion knife.<\/p>\n<p>Between the ages of 16 and 26 I&#8217;ve probably lost 10 of these types of knives.\u00a0 Yes, I even had two of the Swiss Champ series.\u00a0 In 2003, I was working with another consultant on a server or desktop.\u00a0 He quickly pulled out this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swissarmy.com\/MultiTools\/Pages\/Product.aspx?category=doityourself&amp;product=53938\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swiss Army knife<\/a>.\u00a0 I drooled since I never saw this knife before.\u00a0 The cool thing about it was that it had interchangeable bits just like the ones for a drill.<\/p>\n<p>I had to get one and of course every site I went to didn&#8217;t even know what it was or if they did, it was out of stock.\u00a0 I ended up calling a bunch of wilderness equipment stores and finally came across one at <a href=\"https:\/\/domsoutdoor.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dom&#8217;s Outdoor Outfitter<\/a> in Livermore, California.\u00a0 Guess where I ended up 4 hours later?<\/p>\n<p>I was so excited about this knife that I bought 4 of them.\u00a0 One for me and the other for my other tech buddies.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve had this knife for 6 years now and it&#8217;s one of the best tools that I carry with me at all times (minus airplane trips).<br \/>\nI grew up watching <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs.com\/classics\/macgyver\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MacGyver<\/a>. I don&#8217;t miss my Swiss Champ anymore.\u00a0 When I compare the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0019T3GSY?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=edealo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0019T3GSY\">CyberTool 41<\/a><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=edealo-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=B0019T3GSY\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" border=\"0\" \/> to the Swiss Champ I still lean towards the Cybertool mainly because of the bit wrench.\u00a0 There are smaller Cybertools out there, like the Cybertool <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0007QCP1O?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=edealo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0007QCP1O\">29<\/a> and 32.\u00a0 I really like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0007QCP1O?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=edealo-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B0007QCP1O\">29<\/a> because it has a better balance for the bit wrench.<\/p>\n<p>I recommend this knife if you&#8217;re in IT like me.\u00a0 It&#8217;s definitely better than those Gerber when it comes to ease of use.\u00a0 Maybe I&#8217;m just geeking out about the bit wrench.<\/p>\n<p>Send me a comment and let me know what you think of this knife.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MacGyver and always wished for a Swiss Army knife.\u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure that a one of these knives was purchased from my first paycheck.\u00a0 In fact, I&#8217;m pretty sure it was the Swiss Champion knife.
