You might wonder why or how this is possible, and it largely boils down to the ongoing costs. This includes things like insurance, repairs, servicing, fuel, and so on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">By breaking things down and comparing the two vehicles, you&#8217;ll soon see why motorcycles are more affordable&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Fuel costs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Did you know that motorcycles are generally more fuel-efficient than cars? Experts put this down to the lightness of the vehicles, meaning less power is needed to propel them forwards. As a result, less fuel gets used during each journey, so they are more fuel-efficient. This doesn&#8217;t mean\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/latimesblogs.latimes.com\/greenspace\/2011\/09\/mythbusters-motorcycle-emissions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">they&#8217;re greener than cars<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0&#8211; far from it &#8211; but it does go some way to explaining why they are cheaper to run. Fewer fuel stops per month will keep the running costs down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Maintenance costs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Cars have a lot of ongoing maintenance costs to do with servicing. This includes things like changing tire pressure, switching out the window cleaner fluid, and so on. It&#8217;s also harder to clean a car as you have an exterior and interior. Motorcycles tend to be much more affordable on the maintenance front. Fewer ongoing tasks are required, and garages typically charge less to service and repair motorcycles. This is because there are fewer working and moving parts on a motorbike compared to a car. So, and this is a generalization, motorcycles are cheaper to maintain.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Insurance costs<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This is perhaps the most surprising thing, and it&#8217;s that\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/zimmerinsurance.com\/motorcycle-insurance-ohio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">motorcycle insurance<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is generally more affordable than car insurance. Why? Part of it comes down to motorcycles generally having a cheaper sale price than cars. The more expensive a vehicle is, the costlier it is to insure. Then, you have cars with loads of parts, meaning more things can go wrong. Your instinct would suggest that motorcycles should be more expensive to insure because they pose a greater risk on the roads. However, this isn&#8217;t the case, contributing to the lower running costs of this vehicle.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Individually, each of these things is impressive in its own right. But, the fact that motorcycles are generally cheaper in all three departments is astounding. Yes, you have the caveat of comparing an expensive motorcycle to a cheap car. In that instance, you probably wouldn&#8217;t save money using a motorcycle. But, if you compare both vehicles of similar quality, the motorcycle will come out on top.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As a bonus, buying a motorcycle is also usually more affordable. Brand new ones can be a lot cheaper and you can still get some really impressive features from them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Nevertheless, you have to ask yourself; is it worth switching to a motorcycle to save money. For some of you, it might be. However, you may want to consider a different approach; switching to an\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/2021\/10\/thinking-of-getting-an-electric-vehicle-questions-to-consider-first\/\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">electric vehicle<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.
