{"id":2386,"date":"2010-11-20T23:12:35","date_gmt":"2010-11-21T07:12:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/?p=2386"},"modified":"2019-11-19T11:15:34","modified_gmt":"2019-11-19T19:15:34","slug":"thanksgiving-survival-guide-1-of-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/thanksgiving-survival-guide-1-of-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving Survival Guide \u2013 1 of 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>What\u2019s for Thanksgiving dinner?<\/h1>\n<p>Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I feel like I\u2019m running out of time to plan and prepare a meal.\u00a0 I decided to get ahead of the game and start sooner than later.<\/p>\n<p>There are the die hard Thanksgiving enthusiasts who believe we should reenact the dinner the Pilgrims and Indians ate.\u00a0 Me?\u00a0 I\u2019m not a traditionalist.\u00a0 Turkey is usually the last thing on my mind when it comes to \u201cTurkey Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>What about the rest of the meal?\u00a0 The first part of planning any dinner is planning the entire meal from start to finish.\u00a0 Imagine that you\u2019re sitting at the table; What do you see?\u00a0 What does it smell like?\u00a0 What flavors are you salivating over?<\/p>\n<p>After creating your vision you\u2019re probably overwhelmed by the amount of work.\u00a0 Don\u2019t panic!\u00a0 Well, unless this is your first time making dinner for your in-laws (I\u2019ve heard many horror stories).\u00a0 This is what I pictured for this meal:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mashed Potatoes (carb)<\/li>\n<li>Rib Roast (meat)<\/li>\n<li>Candied Yams (part vegetable, part dessert)<\/li>\n<li>Roasted Bell Pepper Soup (soup)<\/li>\n<li>Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder (meat)<\/li>\n<li>Assorted Roasted Vegetables (vegetable)<\/li>\n<li>Maybe Corn on the Cob (vegetable)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I\u2019m not sure what I should serve as an appetizer and dessert.\u00a0 I\u2019m going to have to think about this.\u00a0 Other things that I\u2019m thinking about are, \u201cI should do that cranberry dish?\u00a0 How about that stuffing?\u00a0 We have to have stuffing!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now that I have my menu, I\u2019m going to look at the recipe to make sure that I have all the ingredients in stock.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want to run into a situation where we\u2019re missing ingredients. Make a list of of all the ingredients you need.\u00a0 It&#8217;s also probably a good time for you to take inventory of what you have in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Stay tuned.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What\u2019s for Thanksgiving dinner?
