We typically give each other gifts a few days before events but 2 months has been the earliest so far. I guess I&#8217;m going to have to one-up him on that later. Back to the gift, my brother gifted me the Moto360 Android watch.<\/p>\n<p>Before diving into the watch deeper, I&#8217;d like to say that it&#8217;s built really well. The only thing that wasn&#8217;t so great is the black bar at the bottom. I&#8217;m not sure why but I think a complete circle would have put this watch over the top.<\/p>\n<p>After wearing it for a week, I&#8217;ve come to love and hate it. Here are the good things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I don&#8217;t have to open my phone to see what notifications came up.<\/li>\n<li>I know that my heart rate doesn&#8217;t go above 85 during my day.<\/li>\n<li>I can send quick texts.<\/li>\n<li>I can find the answers to anything if it&#8217;s on the internet.<\/li>\n<li>It looks great.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are the not so great things:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I received random notifications at random times.<\/li>\n<li>Battery life, for me, is about 16 hours.<\/li>\n<li>It doesn&#8217;t play music.<\/li>\n<li>It doesn&#8217;t show my pictures.<\/li>\n<li>Not a great base set of applications.<\/li>\n<li>I was hoping for a sleep monitor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I&#8217;ve worn my iPod Nano 6<sup>th<\/sup> Generation as a watch since they came out in 2010 and I&#8217;ve hoped that future smartwatches would copy and add more instead of removing items. I love playing music, looking through photos, and listening to the radio. These new smart watches do nothing but send me alerts everything my phone has an alert.<\/p>\n<p>Not that I mind the alerts, it&#8217;s just that I miss plugging in my ear buds to my wrist area and taking a jog through the woods. The heart rate monitor and step monitor has been my friend so far on this watch. I definitely know that I walk over 10,000 steps a day and my heart rate is active about 33% in my day. The question is what will I do with this information? They say I should double what I&#8217;m doing now in order to get into better shape.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, during Thanksgiving, the watch came in handy. &#8220;Set timer for 25 minutes.&#8221; This was an additional timer to help me keep the dishes on track.<\/p>\n<p>I have had some great conversations with people who have commented that they admire my watch and want to learn more about it. I simply give them a small tour of the features and end it by sending at random contact a message saying &#8216;hello&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The reviews out on the web do not do any smartwatch any justice. I&#8217;ve look at the other watches for sale right now and I can say that the Moto360 has to be the best looking watch there is for Droid phones (especially since they all use the same technology).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My brother, the coolest brother, gave me a Christmas gift early this year.
