{"id":4053,"date":"2014-12-15T00:13:57","date_gmt":"2014-12-15T08:13:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/?p=4053"},"modified":"2017-10-20T02:31:11","modified_gmt":"2017-10-20T09:31:11","slug":"osprey-momentum-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/osprey-momentum-30\/","title":{"rendered":"Osprey Momentum 30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m still slightly sad that I&#8217;m no longer rocking my <a href=\"http:\/\/Targus.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Targus<\/a> backpack. It&#8217;s too bad that it didn&#8217;t hold up as long as I wanted. I guess it did survive 6 years of service and in backpack years that\u2019s a very long time. I struggled connecting with <a href=\"http:\/\/Oakley.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oakley&#8217;<\/a>s Kitchen Sink but I was able to use it for at least 4 years. The Kitchen Sink is a great bag for travelling because of the bottom compartment where I can throw in my dirty clothes or extra pair of shoes but it didn&#8217;t really work out for my daily commute.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking about switching to the smaller version of the Kitchen Sink called the Bathroom Sink but couldn&#8217;t justify the cost. The Kitchen Sink is a trooper and carries about 3 days of gear. Again, not good for a daily commute. I guess I won\u2019t really go into a complete comparison but I just wanted to note that I switched to the Momentum 30 from the Kitchen Sink.<\/p>\n<p>Sorry Kitchen Sink, I had to move on and I know you\u2019ll find a good home. So more about the Momentum and why I chose it.<\/p>\n<p>I poured through <a href=\"http:\/\/REI.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">REI.com<\/a> and looked through all the packs. My requirements were compartments, pockets, and a laptop sleeve. I guess I also wanted to stay around $100. I\u2019m not a super camper, outdoors man, hiker, etc\u2026so going with a name brand for hikers doesn&#8217;t really fit me. At the same time, I didn&#8217;t want to stick to the San Francisco stereotype of a Timbuk2 or Chrome Industries bag. I don\u2019t believe those bags have the right ergonomic fit with the amount of gear I carry. I guess that was the other way I went backpack shopping: start with all the gear I carry.<\/p>\n<p>On an average day, I carry:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1-2 laptop<\/li>\n<li>2 headphones<\/li>\n<li>2 cell phones<\/li>\n<li>5 pens<\/li>\n<li>IDs<\/li>\n<li>Keys<\/li>\n<li>Transit cards<\/li>\n<li>Cash<\/li>\n<li>Toothbrush, tooth paste, dental floss<\/li>\n<li>Sunglasses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Really, I want the G1 from <a href=\"http:\/\/GoRuck.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GoRuck.com<\/a> with the lifetime guarantee. Hopefully one of these days I&#8217;ll get it. For now, I&#8217;m really enjoying the Osprey.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> The bay area recently had rain storms.
