I can say that since my last post I\u2019ve changed careers twice and now I&#8217;m back.<\/p>\n<p>I think I\u2019ll cover my summer or at least start to catch up with 2016. My IT cooking buddies decided to make a beef dish day. Here I was thinking I\u2019d grill up some steaks or some kind of kabobs. I\u2019ve always had a taste for kabobs and always wonder why I don\u2019t do them more often. So I started dreaming about kabobs which then lead me to think about grilling things. Then trying to figure out what\u2019s the biggest thing I\u2019ve grilled so far, not pounds but just the biggest. I can do 100 pounds of cuts without worrying. Ribeye roasts was probably the biggest at 15 pounds. So I thought, what\u2019s bigger than that? A pig? But that\u2019s not beef. I searched and searched the web for beef dishes. Most of them were rib roasts and roast beef type things. Then I found the steamship round. My heart was set for the steamship round. Partly because my father does the steamship round every other Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>I go over to my butcher, Save More Meat Market in Pacifica, CA, and ask for a steamship round. They said they could do it and it was going to be 50 pounds. 50 pounds didn\u2019t sound appealing to me. It just sounded like another holiday with a big thing of meat. I sat there for a minute without saying anything and then I gently asked for a beef leg. As butchers normally ask, how do you want it cut? I just said to give me the whole thing. Of course they didn\u2019t have it in stock at the moment so I planned to get it another day.<\/p>\n<p>As I got into my car, I realized that a beef leg would not fit in my oven. I guess it was a great excuse to now get a rotisserie. No, not the set it and forget it kind but the rotisserie that can hold a whole animal. After searching the web for a rotisserie and reading a couple of reviews, I decided to go with the 25W Rotisserie from Titan Distributors. Let\u2019s fast forward a little because I\u2019m tired of typing. Rotisserie comes in. Beef leg arrives.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a 90-pound beef leg. Yes, the whole leg! I had to clear my fridge just to keep it somewhere before the party. 90 pounds and about 3.5 feet long. My family wasn\u2019t happy with the leg sitting in the fridge but at least they would benefit later on.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4555\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4555\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-4555 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/edelalon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/raw-beef.jpg\" alt=\"raw-beef\" width=\"410\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/raw-beef.jpg 410w, https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/raw-beef-240x300.jpg 240w, https:\/\/www.edelalon.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/raw-beef-300x375.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4555\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">90 Pound Beef Leg<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Part at 4PM meant I had to get up at 5am to get this thing on the grill with my never before tested rotisserie. The idea is try to find the center weight of this leg. After about 5 tries, I came as close to the center as possible without needing a drill to bore a hole through the bone. 10 hours later, out comes this beautiful piece of meat with the juices circulating and the bad fat dripping off onto hot coals to release a beautiful aroma of cooking beef.<\/p>\n<p>The meat came out tender without me having to do anything to it.
