We\u2019ve all been there: sitting on the living room floor surrounded by particleboard, staring at a cartoon instruction manual, and wondering why we have three mysterious wooden dowels left over.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4\">If you haven&#8217;t heard the news yet, IKEA recently acquired the gig-economy platform TaskRabbit. For decades, IKEA\u2019s business model has been built on flat-packing affordable, stylish furniture and passing the assembly labor onto the customer. While the prices are great, the &#8220;DIY&#8221; aspect is undeniably the biggest pain point of the IKEA experience. It\u2019s a well-known joke that assembling a HEMNES dresser or a MALM bed frame is the ultimate test of patience (and sometimes, relationships).<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">By bringing TaskRabbit in-house, IKEA is finally offering a direct solution to that exact problem. TaskRabbit has already been a go-to app for people looking to hire freelance &#8220;Taskers&#8221; to build their furniture. Now, the process will likely be integrated seamlessly. Imagine buying a bookshelf and, with one extra click at checkout, having a professional booked to show up at your house and put it together for you. No more lost screws, no more blisters from tiny hex keys.<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">It\u2019s a smart pivot for the Swedish furniture giant as retail continues to evolve. People don&#8217;t just want affordable products anymore; they want convenience.
