Mix Up Your Mornings with These Breakfast Ideas

0

Breakfast is considered by many to be the most important meal of the day, so it is sad that so many of us make do with a quick slice of toast or bowl of cereal before we head out of the door.

Breakfast should be a proper meal, and here you will find some ideas to help you mix up your mornings and have something to eat that is really worth the effort.

Sweet potato egg boat

If you are looking for a dish that is packed with protein and slow-release carbs to help you to feel fuller for longer so that you don’t need to snack before lunchtime, then look no further than the sweet potato egg boat. Simply Bake a sweet potato and once it’s almost done, squeeze a little before adding butter, salt, and pepper and mashing with a fork, then make a hoke in the potato for an egg, crack it in and bake for a further 15 minutes for a simple and filling breakfast dish.

Sausage balls with Bisquick

Sausage is a popular breakfast food, but it is usually served with pancakes and or bacon. If you want to shake things up, why not learn how to make sausage balls with Bisquick instead? This dish is kind of like a cross between a meatball and a cheddar biscuit, which means it is crispy, meaty, and amazingly satisfying.

Breakfast fried rice

If you are looking for a delicious breakfast dish that helps you to use up leftovers, then breakfast fried rice is the one for you. Simply add a small amount of vegetable oil into a skillet and heat gently, add chopped bacon and sausage and cook until almost crispy, then add rice and coat with the oil before cracking in an egg and scrambling. You can add soy sauce or not as desired, but you should always season with salt and pepper or chili flakes.

Savory oats

Most of us, if we have oats for breakfast, make them with milk and cinnamon, raisins, or brown sugar, but savory oats might be even better. Instead of milk, use vegetable or chicken stock to cook your steel-cut oats with, and instead of topping with cinnamon top with salt and black pepper, and a fried egg or salsa or fried mushrooms and spinach – the options really are endless.

Green shakshuka

As you will know, shakshuka is usually made with tomatoes, but you can make a different version, that is just as good, using sauteed greens instead and it is probably even better for you than the original.

Banana nice cream

If you’re looking for something sweet for breakfast, that feels decadent, but which is actually very healthy, slice and freeze a couple of bananas. When they are frozen, blend them with cocoa powder, honey, or berries to make delicious nice cream.

If you want to mix up your mornings and have something for breakfast that you will really love, why not try one of the delicious dishes above?
