I’ve been working with a colleague of mine because he’s in the prospects of trying to find new job. And I asked them about things that he enjoys doing and places he likes to visit in which he answered riding motorcycles and going to Costa Rica. There wasn’t much else that I got out of him. I think he secretly wanted to follow the path of The Motorcycle Diaries. Mind you, he’s an accountant. I’m not entirely sure where his want of a career change is coming from but my guess is that he’s about to go through a mid-life crisis. There are more signs pointing to that direction than job change. For example, he’s talking about getting back things he used to have in his life and even starting a school to teach kids how to ride dirt bikes.
In all of this, I found this cool video. You may have seen it but the important thing to remember is to do what you enjoy doing in your life. I tried to convince him by showing him other examples of people who did what they want and then they finally got discovered. There are many examples of people who are doing things for 20, 30, or 40 years without fame or glory until one day the History Channel discovered them.
I’m showing him this video as an inspiration. I think this perspective is a very interesting one where with no money what would you be doing? My favorite part of this video is where the narrator goes into living life and is not worth living when you’re not doing what you want to be doing. It totally makes sense to me.
