Top Tips for Cleaning Out the Garage

When was the last time you were able to park inside your garage? Did you know that that could be a reality if you just declutter the space and eliminate all the junk piled up there? You don’t need a four-step cleaning plan to eliminate your garage clutter, but you do need to think about how you’re supposed to get your vehicle into your garage if you’re piling up boxes and other junk.

Knowing the top tips for cleaning out your garage will ensure that you don’t have to get your Jeep sold because you’re going to have space for it in the garage for a change. You want to ensure that your car stays off the road to lower your insurance and protect it from the elements. So here are the tips that you need to clean out the garage properly.

  1. Take everything out of the garage. We are coming into the summer quite heavily, which means that you will have several warm days to do this. The first step to decluttering your garage is to find out what you have in there, so make sure you pick a section and pull everything out onto the driveway to start sorting everything through. If you choose a day where the weather is good, you can keep your car on the road, your driveway covered in clutter, and that way you can pressure wash or clean out the garage properly. Once you can see everything in there, it will be much easier to sift through.
  2. Decide on what you need to keep. How long has it been since you’ve seen what’s in your garage close up? The only thing you need to consider keeping the garage clean out is items you’ve used more than once in the past year and the things in good working condition. All of those gizmos that you’ve been meaning to fix do not need to stay in the garage anymore. The tools that you can not rent and the things that you’ve paid for yourself, you want to keep those two because those are yours.
  3. Start moving the clutter to the recycling center. The things that don’t make the keep list is the clutter, so you can either donate the good stuff to charity and take the rest of the recycling center, or you can take all of it to the tip for it to be sifted and recycled correctly. You’ll keep items that should be easy enough to store with some decent garage storage, so make sure you’re putting everything back into the garage but the rest of it. Load up the car and take it with you to the recycling centers to get rid of it properly.
  4. Sell what you can. If you have things in your garage that are in excellent condition and still valuable, then sell them on. You can bet that the phrase another one man’s trash is another man’s treasure is absolutely true, especially when it comes to Facebook marketplace.
