For our family, that moment came when our home caught fire. While we were grateful to escape, one member of our family wasn’t as fortunate.
Our beloved cat, Savi Jade, suffered severe smoke inhalation.
At just 5 years and 2 months old, Savi Jade is a beautiful Savannah-Bengal mix with endless energy, a curious spirit, and a personality that fills our home with laughter. She isn’t just our pet—she’s family. She greets us at the door, follows us from room to room, curls up beside us every evening, and always seems to know when someone needs comfort.
When we realized the extent of the smoke she had inhaled, we rushed her to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG). Those first few hours were some of the longest of our lives. We didn’t know if she would survive. We only knew we had to do everything possible to give her a fighting chance.
Fighting for Every Breath
The emergency veterinary team immediately began intensive, life-saving treatment.
Over the next several days, Savi Jade endured an incredible amount of care. She spent more than 53 hours inside an oxygen cage because she couldn’t breathe safely on her own. She received nearly 60 hours of continuous IV fluids, emergency X-rays, ultrasound imaging, comprehensive blood work, pain medications, antibiotics, constant monitoring, and around-the-clock hospitalization under the care of critical care specialists.
Every treatment represented another chance for her to recover.
Every hour mattered.
Every breath mattered.
Thanks to the extraordinary dedication of the veterinary staff, Savi Jade continued fighting.
